  • Revisiting Moab Utah

    marzo 08, 2020

During the mid-1900s, Moab was a Uranium mining town but by the early 80s mining had pretty much ended creating a dying town.   It was brought back from near-death by the incredible assets it has around it.

Moab is located in a high desert and has a stark beauty to it.  The flora is tough, really tough or it wouldn't make it.  The weathered sandstone has created a marvelous and beautiful playground mixed with large cliffs.  Visitors flocked in bringing Moab back.  Hiking, biking, 4wheeling, and offroad motorcycling enthusiasts had a new place to have fun and push their capabilities as far as they were willing.   The icing on the cake was the incredible views.

It's hard for me to believe I first visited Moab 25 years ago.  For me, mountain biking was the passion that took me there.  The red sandstone lets you do things you could never do on dirt and the terrain let you push yourself to see what you could do vs. thought you could do.

There is nothing more rewarding than successfully finished a grueling climb on Top of the World (that's me in the photo 3000 feet up) and getting to sit on top of a 3000-foot high cliff and just take in the beauty.  I sleep well in Moab as your body is so tired from the efforts of the rides.

Eddie McStiff's is a great brewery there so your evenings can be fun too.  They have a nice golf course there as well.  If you don't want to test your limits physically or those of your vehicle, there are plenty of places you can visit to see Moab's beauty while driving a car and sightseeing.    If you're looking for a unique place to visit, you've found it!

Here's little actual riding there:  Ride Moab!
